Hi all! I’ve been waiting so long to start these and finally got around to it last night. I was having so much fun and I’m getting really excited about them so I thought I would share! After all, Fiance isn’t quite as into it as I am. Maybe I’ll get some enthusiasm here 🙂
So I pretty much knew from the get go that I would have artificial bouquets. I’ve had a bit of criticism from people saying that artificial bouquets would look awful in photos etc etc. My photpgrapher actually tried to persuade me by saying they will not photograph well. Turns out she actually has a florist friend she wanted me to use! Although… I think they had a different image of artificial in their heads than I did.
I’m not really that big on flowers anyway so am not willing to fork out so much money just because people say I should. Plus I thought it would be a fun DIY project! I didn’t want a bouquet for myself, just my Maid/Matron of Honor and Bridesmaid or Best Man (so they have something to with their hands). This is mainly for the fact that I don’t care about flowers. I also figured I’d be carrying it for all of 30 seconds and then handing it off to the MOH. I didn’t see the point and I also didn’t really care if we had flowers in the photos or not. But now that I’ve started making them and am enjoying it so much and think they look great, I’ve decided I’m going to have one as well! 🙂
I bought most of the flowers from ebay but also kept an eye on places like Equip and Diva (for the Aussie bees!) for hairpieces and the like going out real cheap and I just ripped the flowers off of those. I got some more unique/nicer flowers this way than just the cheapies from Asia 😛 I’m not sure how much they are costing exactly because I haven’t really been keeping track but they will definitely come in well under $100 for 3 bouquets.
I’ve attached quite a few photos of the progress so far. Our wedding colours are blue and peachy-coral. I’m not sure how well you can see them in there but I’ve got a heap of the peachy coloured tulle flowers that I am/will be using to fill it in a bit more. It’s obviously not finished yet but this is what the first one looks like so far. I’m not sure what I am going to do for the handle. There is no handle as yet but I’m not sure if I want lace, ribbon or something like burlap/twine. What do you guys think would look best? We are having a relatively intimate, casual winery wedding. Also if you’ve got any other advice please let me know 🙂
