So, my fiance and I are young and silly and fun (so are most of our friends and guests). We were going to do cupcakes in a jar for our favors, but mason jars can get kind of expensive. Plus, I don’t want to be in a cupcake-making frenzy the week of the wedding. 🙂 So, we decided to switch our favors to shutter shades! I just found some on Oriental Trading for $8/dozen.

What do you think about these non-traditional wedding favors?

I think you might have a lot of these left on tables. I would go with something edible, even then, they usually get left on tables. 🙁

I think they’re fun, but unfortunatley I don’t know how many guests will actually keep them. I see them as something they wear dancing around at the wedding, but I know I wouldn’t know what to do with them after.

Only the younger people will even wear them on the dance floor. Otherwise they will be left on the tables.

Couldn’t you buy ‘fun’ decorative cupcakes or something? Or those candies with mesages on them? I think this would be a good idea if all your guests were aged 23 and under and only amount to maybe 20, but older people will probably not take them home or if they do, will throw them out. Better off going with something edible and fun 🙂

If the opposite of what PPs are saying happens (ie. people won’t wear them) You are going to have A LOT of wedding reception pictures with people wearing them. I went to a reception that gave out Mickey ears (wedding was in Disney World) it was super cute but I couldn’t help but think her pictures were kind of ruined because none were serious.
