We just used Mixbooks recently to make photo books for our parents for Christmas. I have used shutterfly and iPhoto? The Mixbooks arrived at my door in 3 days and are the best books I have ever done!!

I used Shutterfly for my wedding album & a ton of other albums. Just sign up & get coupons…they have deals almost all the time. I’ve never done the lay flat pages though. I love using shutterfly!

Another recommendation for Shutterfly.  I’ve made annual scrapbooks of my finace and I’s year and also made our guestbook using Shutterfly.  Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I do!

I got our guestbook from Shutterfly! I just added a couple pages and did no additional upgrades and it turned out great. The pictures were high resolution and the colors turned out stunning! I had international shipping so mine took 2 weeks or so to come in. For our wedding photos I will probably  splurge a little more as I want something fancier for display. The guestbook wasnt a huge priority for me but for what I paid I was extremely happy!

We made a “free” 8X8 photo book with shutterfly (just paid $7 or so for shipping). I like the result a lot. You have to use high resplution pictures though or else the website tells you the photos are too low quality.

We used mixbook and loved it. Plus we were able to get the hardcover in a full color picture of us at no additional charge! I signed up my email with them and they sent me a code for a free book with them.

My sister likes to use mypublisher

@ElleSeven: I have ordered two books from Shutterfly and am VERY satisfied! If you’re looking for a larger album, I ordered a 12×12 45 page wedding album for my sister with all the bells and whistles. I also ordered a 20 page 12×12 guestbook for me. I’ll gladly PM you photos of the finished products if you’re interested!

Pros:

Padded Cover: A very nice touch; it isn’t too puffy, but substantially nicer than the hard cover.

Layflat Pages: Definitely an upgrade from the regular pages, I highly recommend it for a wedding album. It gives everything a more polished look.

Upgraded Page decor/theme: Definitely needed. The standard layouts/embellishments aren’t as cute as the upgraded, and for an extra $5.. just do it!

Turn around time: It was on my doorstep within 2 weeks of ordering.. during Christmas season!

Cost: $175-ish. Much cheaper than the $1000 our photographer charges.

Cons:

I have no idea how long it will hold together

Almost no coupons apply to a 12×12 with the upgrades. I tried for 2 months to apply some percentage off, and it never qualified with the cover and pages.

I have no experience with Shutterfly, but just received our wedding book which I made through Blurb, and I was very happy with it. Nice quality construction, paper, image rendering etc. Haven’t seen any other books besides iphoto, which was definitely poorer quality, so I can’t really speak to how the product compares.
