It sounds like his family was thinking about doing the same thing. They are leaning more towards a limo bus which was out of my moms price range, but if they share the cost it might work out better and save everyone money. But my Mom already feels like they already paid for so much as it is. I don’t want my mom to be offended that they would prefer a limo bus over a school bus…err
@misswhimsy: They qouted my mom aroud $500

@MissParrot: Thank you! My parents thought the bus was great, and they have high standards, so I hope you don’t get swayed if you don’t want to be. I think people will just be grateful you were looking out for their safety and trying to make everything more convenient. Good luck!

@MissParrot: Honestly shuttles are the best thing as a guest, no matter what form they are in! Nothing better than getting drunk on someone else’s dime AND having a free ride home!
My friend had a school bus to her wedding and we loved it. No one judges a free ride!!

If the drive is 20 minutes or less, a school bus sounds fine!

I am thinking of doing the same thing. Having transportation back to the hotel has alwasy been HUGE for me. Plus, the ride back is always hilarious and a party within itself. No one will think twice about what type of bus it is, they’ll just be happy to be taken care of 🙂 Go for it!!

I think it’s awesome that you’re providing transportation! Your guests can have a great time without worrying about getting back to the hotel. Very thoughtful and responsible.
Since you’re a teacher (I am, too!), I love the school bus idea. I think your guests will definitely have fun with it and you could get some really fun pics from it!

Okay so. Basically his parents are not interested in a school bus it would be uncomfitable for them due to health issues. So they would opt for a limo bus. My mom would opt for a school bus its cheaper, and doesn’t feel its neccessary to spend extra for a Limo, Which I get and understand.
Fiance and I honestly do not care weather our guests ride in a limo vs a school bus, our concern is for their health, and safety and both options would provide that.
I told my mom that if she would like to provide a school bus that we are fine with that and appreciate that. She also has the option of goin in with his family and spilting the limo bus cost. Which I think is more expensive so may not be a great option. Or she can rent the bus to shuttle guests and that his parents have the choice of either using it or getting different transporation for themsleves.
The one thing we did decide was that if both parents do shuttling different ways. That we would rent our own private limo. Orginally were thinking of saving some money and just using the shuttling service but in this case it be worth the money so either parent feels hurt/let down ect that we went with the other.

If I drank too much or didn’t have my car there, I’d just be grateful for the ride.
I hope you can work this kerfuffle out with both sets of parents. I would opt for the cheaper schoolbus. I can’t imagine the venue being very far from the hotel.

Great idea – I would just be happy to have a free ride! Especially if I wanted to ahve a few drinks and then had to drive 30 minutes back to the hotel. Transportation is VERY costly, I found.

It could be super cute. I can’t remember which one but I know one of the bee bloggers used a school bus!

@MissParrot: I think that is a fun and unique idea! You are being considerate to your guests by providing transportation in the first place. And they will remember it as a unique detail in your wedding!
