I swear the last couple years, it’s like every couple months I’m getting sick or having some health crisis. And within the span of a month and a half, I’m on my 3rd health crisis now. Feb. 22nd which was my Bachelorette Party, I came down with a very odd lower back issue. First it started out like I just slept wrong or something, and then during the Bachelorette party, I started having severe muscle spasms in my lower back, I could barely walk. I took some medication for severe pain, and was able to enjoy the rest of my night. But pretty much the rest of that week, getting better each day though, I was kinda crippled and could only get through work by walking using a walker. lol Which one of my older coworkers had brought and let me borrow.
Then a couple weeks later, I got a UTI, from it looks like I had drink wine the night before, but didn’t completely get the wine out of my system before I went to bed. So it set in my bladder all night, because wine has a lot sugar. I used to get UTIs pretty frequently, but I hadn’t had one in over a year. My doctor put me on cipro while I took my cranberry pills, and it seemed to go away just fine. Then a couple weeks later… (TMI alert) but I started urinating straight blood! But it was odd (if you’ve ever had a UTI before), I had no pain, no burning, nothing weird, other than my bladder just felt full. So I go to the Walgreen walk in clinic, and they diagnose me with another UTI, and decide to put me on a different antibiotic called Bactrim since it seems the Cipro didn’t completely get rid of the infection.
Now, before I took the Bactrim, my only symptom was urinating blood. I had taken the Bactrim at noon, and that evening I started feeling worse. My eyes became very bloodshot, and I had a pulsing headache, with a lot of pressure in my head. My veins in my forehead were popping out and my face was very red. When I got home, I started feeling feverish and achey like I was getting the flu. The next day, on top of all that, I started getting really bad pain in my arms and legs when I stand up. I started to get worried if I’m experience some kind of kidney failure or sepsis. Because I’ve never had this accompany any UTI I’ve had before.
So I went to the ER, and after stabbing me 3 times with a needle, getting bloodwork, doing a CT scan and taking a urine sample, all they could tell me was I have a UTI. Also at the ER (I had brought my mom with me), I was developing a skin rash, like breaking out. Didn’t itch though. My mom said she thought it’s maybe the antibiotic, because I read other people who had very bad reactions on this antibiotic. The walk-in clinic and ER both sent my sample to the lab to test for which antibioitic is best.
I had continued to take the antibiotic up until yesterday morning at which I decided to stop for fear of my symptoms getting worse. Yesterday, my whole body was in a lot of pain. Today I feel better, but my legs and arms still hurt, and I still have the rash, my eyes are a little less red. I can’t even stand for barely 30 seconds to a minute though without being in severe pain. So I had to call off work.
I’m really worried if I’m going to get better in time for my wedding, especially because Thursday I have to pick up my bridesmaid and photographer from the airport! And I’m especially worried if I have to canel our honeymoon trip if I don’t get better! 🙁 Did anyone else get sick leading up to or on their wedding day? Was anyone so sick they had to cancel their honeymoon?
