I agree. I get scared to post on here sometimes because some girls don’t play nice 🙁

That reminds me of last week’s episode of the good wife. The judge required both lawyers to say “in my opinion” for every statement they made.

I agree. Everyone has opinions and they aren’t all the same.

@forestgirl: I think for some people that’s easier said that done.

It’s also frustrating to see a thread meander away from the OP’s question or issue because someone or someones insists on refuting every.single.poster who disagrees with his or her opinion.

I’m tired of everyone getting pissed if someone posts more than once. It’s called a conversation, meaning it goes back and forth. It doesn’t mean its heated or a debate or someone trying to change your OPINION,it just means that 2 or more people are talking.

Some stuff is a fact. Doesn’t mean you have to like or agree with it. But it also means that people should be able to talk about it without that stupid llama or cat showing up.

@Belle2Be:  I should’ve been clearer in my post.  It’s one thing for multiple people to engage in a group discussion with lots of opinions.  I would consider that a healthy debate or discussion that adds something to the hive.

What bothers me is when a person’s multiple responses are devoted to saying the same thing over and over again, particularly if that person has no interest in understanding why someone who disagrees feels the way he or she does.  If you feel sufficiently strongly about an issue that you simply know your mind can’t be changed (and that’s completely fine – we all have our convictions), make a single post with your opinion and then vamoose.  Or agree to disagree if someone singles you out.

There’s a difference between:A:  I believe X.

B:  Really?  I believe Y.

A:  Huh.  I guess we’ll agree to disagree./I can see what you mean, but it doesn’t make sense to me./I’m not sure I understand what you mean by that./I think X covers Y in this way/etc.

And…A:  I believe X.

B:  Really?  I believe Y.

A:  That’s ridiculous./Y makes no sense at all./If you believe Y you have no idea what you’re talking about./I believe X!

And…A:  I believe X.

B:  I believe Y.

A:  Y is ridiculous./Y makes no sense at all./If you believe Y you have no idea what you’re talking about./I believe X!

C:  I believe Y.

@Belle2Be: Amen sister!  I like discussions.  That doesn’t mean that I’m trying to “convert” everyone to my opinion but I have every right to defend and justify my opinion if people disagree with it and to question why someone thinks differently.

Discussions are the most useful and interesting threads, IMO (besides threads about pot roast).

@teaadntoast: But see, person A doesn’t have to make their point and vamoose, or agree to disagree. Thats the beauty in having a conversation. Do you really talk to your friends like that?

You-I like Cats

Friend- I like Dogs

You- Silence/Agree to disagree.

That’s pretty boring.

In situations like the OP is talking about, where etiquette rules are in question, it is pretty black and white. It is X. Take it or leave it. If someone else wants to try to debate X, that’s fine, but Person A is allowed to stand by her conviction of X, or state the reasons behind X. Which is all I ever saw.

It’s so funny, because everyone here says what a nice board/site this is, yet everyone and their Mother-In-Law jumps on someone who has strong opinions.

@Belle2Be:  You’ll note that in at least one of the scenarios I described it’s perfectly possible to hold diametrically opposing opinions and have a reasonable discussion.

It’s when one party implies that liking dogs is the only possible way to live and that those who prefer cats are dirty infidels and refuses to countenance any other interpretation that we run into problems.

And we have plenty of strong minded bees who aren’t afraid to be blunt and are praised for their forthrightness.  Lezlers springs immediately to mind.

You realize this thread is about one (possibly 2) specific poster(s) right? How is it any better to create a whole new thread bashing someone whose opinions are not liked than it is to post multiple times that Y is ridiculous?
