ForeverBirds:  I’ve definitely seen this in army boys before, that’s all I can say. It’s the combination of finding a vocation young, having a large disposable income (because they live on base, their day to day living expenses are minimal) and the army culture. They think they are “ahead” of the pack and that they know it all.

If it makes you feel any better, I bet he cried at least once during basic training. Almost everyone cries at least once during basic training. Usually secretly. In the shower.

ForeverBirds:  there’s a reason you’re his only friend from back home – everyone else has already told him to f$&! off because he is as asshole. Hon, you need to stop letting this nasty person verbally demean and abuse you.

ForeverBirds:  Any reason why you have to be friends with him?

ForeverBirds:  Ah, right. But seriously… almost everyone cries. Nobody admits it at the time. I only found out about it because I was getting drunk with some army guys many years after my own basic, and this huge, tattooed guy confesses that he cried every day during basic… he used to take a pillow into the toilets and cry into it to muffle the sound. So anyway, he confesses this, and the whole room goes silent. Then I say “me too… I used to cry in the shower, so the sound of the running water would muffle the noise”. And then, all of a sudden, everyone else starts confessing… usually to crying in the shower!
