@AmandaCareBear:  My bridesmaids had side buns, and one of them had hair that was almost shoulder length.  The salon managed to give her a decent side bun even without extensions or anything!

That being said, you could always add extensions.  I had them in my hair so my hair would be fuller; without them my hair would have looked pretty lame.

If you don’t think you have enough hair you should look into getting extensions. Then have your hairdresser add it to the bun during the trial and see if you like it. Hope that helps. 🙂

It depends on your hair type as much as on your hair length. I have thick, fine hair that falls just below my shoulders and I can do pretty much any style with it. Someone with thinner hair of the same length may not be able to do the same styles.

I had a side bun for my cousins wedding and it was only shoulder length. The stylist curled all my hair then put it in a side ponytail. She had to pin pieces that barely fit in the ponytail. From there she took small pieces of curls and pinned them randomly and it created the bun look. She left some of the ends left out and pinned curls mid way through the curl if that makes sense. It turned out great and out of all the bridesmaids looked the best.

im the red head.. I tried to find a better view of it but everything is from the front.
