Okay. I love my photographer, he’s wonderful. He’s gifted. His company is amazing. If I have one complaint though it’s that they’re SO busy it doesn’t give them time to finish up what they’ve already shot. It’s frustrating to no end. They’re always off shooting other weddings, commercials, NFL stuff all over the world, which I mean, awesome for them. But as a client on the other end, it sucks balls for lack of a better term. Two weeks ago I was told “two more weeks” and now he’s just emailed me saying he’s “hoping” for the end of November. Dude. I got married two months ago. I need to send out bloody thank you cards. Can I please have my photos?! Maybe they need more staff so they can balance out who goes where when, giving their staff more time between shoots to edit and finish up what was begun… And as a client, I don’t want to email him back sounding b!tchy and say “Ummm you said two weeks two weeks ago, and now it’s at least two more weeks… I really need to do thank you cards and I want to make photo albums for our parents for Christmas so can you hurry up?!”. Uggggh I’m just frustrated.
BUT for the good news. He also asked if he could use our vows/film footage in a national commercial!!! Crazy!!! So long as the rest of the country doesn’t see the film before we do, I think that’ll be really cool!

That sucks/rocks haha. I would probably send an email saying you’d love to send out thank you cards and get started on albums for Christmas, so if there are any photos that are ready and could be sent out earlier that would be great. I think there’s a way to nudge without being snippy.

Yeah that does suck! I don’t know that there is much you can do though, especially if he is all over the place shooting other things. Do you think you could get him to send you a few thank you card contenders? I guess that would depend on if you were just planning on picking a good photo out of them all or if you two actually did some specifically for thank you cards. I know our photogs say they usually have the pics back to the couple in 6 to 8 weeks, but I had that added into to our contract just to make sure I would get the digital copies for sure within 8 weeks…I don’t want to wait longer than I have to!
Also – how exciting about your video! It turned out so great! That is awesome that they want to use it as a commercial!

Yea I would say you planned holiday gifts for family using photos so you really need them.

I would ask for the top five of his fave or something so you can pick out of there for thank you cards…otherwise guilt tripping him to rush might only bite you in the ass in the long run…time = quality.
but on that note…that does suck balls..i waited not eve a week for mine and it drove me bonkers!!! Hoipefully you get them sooner then later 🙂

The problem is that I’ve already gently nudged and he commented on my being anxious (in a joking way, not rude). He’s given us a great sneak peek and I love the photos (there are potentially a couple I could use for thank yous), but I’m worried I’ll pick one and then he’ll give us the whole package a couple weeks later and I’ll find one I like more. Stupid I know, but I’m like that.
I sort of wish that I could say to him “You being away all the time is awesome for the company but sucks for the client” but in a constructive criticism kind of way you know? I’m sure to a degree they know, but hearing it from a client who paid a lot of money for the full package may push it home a little. I’m so happy with our images and the piece of the movie I’ve seen so far, I’d never complain about the quality for what we paid, but not getting loose ends wrapped up because you need to be in LA, Paris, New York………………………. sucks on my end. And I’m sure I’m not the only one waiting. Or at least I hope not 😉
