@jennylynn13: For cheering up. Good lookin’ modern actors in ivory dinner jackets (ignore the philandering aspect of the first example—probably not good for a wedding board Laughing) :

@jennylynn13: a friend of mine…her husband wanted a white tux too, so they comprimised…as…afterall  its his day too. For the ceremony and pics…black tux…reception…white. He loved it and she was happy.

Here is a little inspiration to take away from the “prom” stereotype! ๐Ÿ™‚

I think as long as the entire ensemble isn’t white, go for it!  I love some of the examples in the photos, contrasts of grey vests or black pants and bowtie make a really striking image.

You’ll work it out!

All white makes me think of Colonel Sanders… sorry! A white dinner jacket with black pants is a bit better, but still hard to pull off. Another thing is that any bright color will highlight the quality (or lack of) of the garment. A white rental tux is probably going to be pretty cheap looking, imo.

I like Miss Tattoo’s suggestion. Let him try on a white tux, and then put him in a black tux and see which one he honestly thinks looks better on him.

My Fiance is wearing a white tux…..When he first told me he picked a white one, I almost passed out….lol!  But, when I went with him to be fit for one, he looked AMAZING!  I was very surprised at how great he looked…..So, if your Fiance feels comfortable wearing a white tux….let him.  He will look great and so will you Smile

I believe it was Mrs. Paisley whose husband wore white and he looked quite dapper. Correct me if I’m wrong bees but you should check out her recaps.

My FH wanted to wear a white coat… and after some convincing from his sisters and I he is no longer wearing a white coat… but maybe white shoes (but I can deal with that).

My dad wore a white jacket and black pants when my parents got married in 1963.  My brother in law wore something similar last year when my sister got married.  I like that classic 60s look.

My parent’s wedding.  I think my dad looks handsome!

To the OP-I feel you, girl!  My Fiance was just talking about a white tux too….but thankfully he is only “thinking” about it and not already decided.   I am hoping that what one of the other girls said about getting to the tux store and seeing the different combo’s in person may persuade him but…if white is what he really wants then I will accept it.

Sighing right along with you…..

At least he doesn’t want a “pimp suit” which is what my Fiance told me he wants. ๐Ÿ™

@MzMarzipan: Your dad looks amazing in his white jacket/dark pants combo!
