Does anyone here wear a silicone ring or something similar in place of your Engagement Ring and/or wedding band while playing sports, camping, etc? Did you start wearing one only after you were married, or while you were engaged?
I love my ring and I love wearing it (despite having never been a jewelry person). I miss it when I am not wearing it, but there are some activities that I do that I either do not feel comfortable wearing it or I am not allowed to. Soccer, hiking, kayaking, doing manual labour, etc. I was thinking of buying a silicone ring to wear during these activities and I was wondering what other people do 🙂
Also, slightly off topic, but I am going camping this weekend with friends and a couple of them having seen the ring yet. I’m leaning toward wearing it for the weekend because it’s not a total backcountry, dig a hole for your waste type of camping trip anyways, so it shouldn’t get super dirty or damaged in any way. What do you think? Should I wear it or leave it at home?

I wear silicone rings while working out because otherwise my ring will get all banged up from lifting.
I bought a sweatband that has a zipper on it so I can put the engagement ring in it and not lose it while I am wearing the silicone.
I also put the engagement ring on a shelf in my house if I dont want to wear the band where I know it will be safe.
I paid bout $8 on amazon for a variety of different colored rings and another $7 for the sweat bands (pack of two, one for me, one for fi).
They work great!

I don’t wear any ring on my finger during physical activity – I have an Emily C scallop necklace I put it on.
No degloving, no losing or damaging it, but I can still show it off if someone wants to see it.

Yeah I have a copper enso ring for the types of activities you mentioned, it’s great.
I wouldn’t wear my ring camping/cottage/gym at all, but it has lots of pave stones and scroll work so it’s prone to damage.

My friends all wear the silicone bands when we play volleyball or workout. They do it more as a reminder to put their rings back on when they get done. One of my friends wore the silicone band when she was just engaged, the rest only did it after they were married.
If you take it camping, I would make sure you have a secure place to store it. Yes, it will be fun to show off, but you don’t want to lose it in the dark or accidently knock it on something and lose a stone that you can’t find. So show it off then put it in a zip pocket in a jacket or in a protective case in your pack.

I have a bunch of cheap silicone rings I bought off Amazon that I wear when I’m doing outdoorsy stuff. I prefer not to have to worry about damaging or losing it.

Enso rings are great. I wear mine to the gym and beach.

I only wear my ring when I go to work or am out with friends, etc. I tend to be hard on jewelry and my ring is a princess cut that sticks out with pave diamonds on the sides, so I’d probably damage it if I wore it all the time. I take it off when I work out and it’s in a box in a drawer when I’m just hanging out at home. I guess I don’t understand the rationale of a silicone ring as a placeholder? Is it signal to others that you’re engaged?

I do! I bought a silicone ring, as did he before our wedding. Our honeymoon was an adventure package in Costa Rica and they recommended not wearing jewlerly. I wanted to wear something because we had just gotten married so the whole wedding ring thing was/is new and fun. I work with my hands so I still wear my silicone ring quite often as does he.

I’m not terribly worried about losing or damaging it on this camping trip. It takes work to get it over my knuckle so slipping off is not a concern at all. Mostly just getting dirty is my concern. It is a solitaire with 6 prongs holding it in place, so I think it is very unlikely that I will lose the stone, though I can see why that might be a concern with a ring that has several smaller stones or something.
I don’t think we will be doing any strenuous activities this weekend – at most, a leisurely hike.
I dunno. I’ve got a day or so to think about it haha
Thanks for the input!

I just don’t wear any type of ring if I know I’m going someplace where my rings won’t be appropriate. It’s pretty rare- the last time I did miss having rings, but I missed MY rings. I think silicone bands look cute but they’re not for me, I’d rather just wear nothing. Maybe one day I’ll get a plain metal band, I’d prefer the look of that to a silicone one.

I love the Enso Elements rings! I have the rose gold Enso. I’m wearing it today as my hands get puffy from eczema at times.

I bought a silicone ring right after we got engaged. It was always the plan to have one to wear to the gym and when I play volleyball or go camping. I’ve found that I actually wear it for more activities (like cleaning) than I initially thought. I just love my engagement ring too much to risk damaging it. This is one from Enso rings. But you can find just as nice silicone rings on Amazon.

My wedding band is a plain gold band that I wear alone when I don’t want to risk taking my diamond somewhere. Before we got married I had a plain silver band that I used to wear if I wasn’t wearing the engagement ring. Maybe an alternative to consider if you don’t want to go the silicone route.

I think several other people already mentioned them, but I love my Enso rings! They tend to have pretty good sales once in a while and they’re a good deal. I have two of the thin stacking ones and I’ll wear one or both depending on what I feel like.
I wear them when I go running because I worry about losing my engagement ring. I barely notice them – super light and comfy. I plan on being one for my fiancé after we get married because he works with his hands a lot. Highly recommend Enso!
