I’m wondering if there are any brides out there who have had or are going to have a dress that is a silk/polyester blend? I don’t know a whole lot about the feel and look of different materials. I love silk, but am unsure if a silk/polyester blend will look cheap and tacky. Thoughts and comments greatly appreciated!

I’ve worn dresses made of it before and honestly, you can’t tell the difference unless there’s a “true” silk swatch right next to it. Just my two cents. 🙂 It’ll be fine.

So here’s the deal 🙂 I found a dress that I absolutely love but it is out of my budget. I’m considering having it recreated for about a 1/3 of the cost of the designer dress, but it will be made of the silk/polyester blend instead of silk gazar (which is extremely shiny and is what I love about the dress). I’m afraid that the silk/polyester blend will be very lackluster and do not want to move forward with the recreation if the blend won’t have that same shine.

I wore an off-white silk-polyester blend dress to prom one year and it was still fairly shiny…if I can find a pic, I’ll show you. It depends on the quality of the fabric overall, I think, and mine was a cheap-o $80 dress from DEB, so you know. 😉
