I just realized tonight, 29 days before my wedding and AFTER I printed all the programs, that I left someone out of our rememberance page! So now I had to re-order the special paper and pay just as much as the paper for the shipping to get it in two days so we can reprint and assemble the programs in time!
I’m just so glad that we realized it NOW instead of, oh, 28 days from now!
What DIY wedding mistakes have you made? Tell me your story to make me feel better!

When we got our guestbook color pages printed they printed the back sides wrong… So instead of turning the pages like a book (where both top parts of the page were on the top) they printed them where you’d “flip” them over from the bottom….
Since I had special ordered the paper already cut to size I couldn’t exactly re-print them….
So I had some that were right and some that were wrong… thankfully I was able to put them in the photo album book in a convenient enough way that we can still flip through it BUT… on the day before the wedding when this happened… I wasn’t too happy… My wonderful Bridesmaid or Best Man figured out of to put them in to “fix it” very quick.. before I freaked. lol
ETA: Another mistake I made but caught was the date on our monogram… I had made them LOOOOOOOOOOOONG before the big day and so I had put the wrong year on them… I saw this MONTHS later after looking at them probably a billion times (along with other people) literally 5 minutes before I sent them to print. it wouldn’t have been a HUGE deal but I’m glad I caught it.

I misaligned the top of our programs (we did 1/2 sheet programs) so there was a random ~2″x2″ spot in one corner. So we went to Hobby Lobby picked up a little stamp and ink and I stamped all of the programs two days before, they turned out great and did help afterall.

My initial invite mock ups had 2001 as the year of our wedding date. Glad I caught that before printing all ofbthem.

I ordered the wrong weight of paper for programs and it was too flimsy so I had to reorder. $20 down the drain. bleh

Another one… When I wrote our programs, most everyone says “Brother of THE Bride”, Sister of THE Groom’, etc… Except I forgot the word “the” for both ushers so they say Cousin of Bride… Wasn’t a big enough woops to reprint all of them, hopefully no one will notice and point it out to me.

I spelled a groomsman’s name wrong in our programs, and left it. I told him that was his name from now on. He was okay with it.

I just made my cake topper with polymer clay, which you bake. They are probably the cutest things I’ve ever made in my life. Well when I went to bake them, I forgot to glue my torso so that fell off the dress, on my head and broke all the curls off my hair. So now I have to superglue them. Argh.

We named all of our tables after classic romantic movies instead of having them numbered. I misspelled one of the titles, so I had to remake the title for that table and reprint all of the place cards and escort cards for that table. It was a bit of a hassle, but my Maid/Matron of Honor caught it in time for me to fix my error!

I made awesome moss covered monograms, but I did them too early and the moss turned brownish… It’s a fall wedding, so I could technically make it work, but I’m not really doing fall colors, so idk :-/

I think I have may top all of these (unfortunately)
We did our invitations by ourselves. We saved a lot of money and lots of people said they were gorgeous! But somehow or other, some of the invitations went out without the actual invitation inside! Like, just a reply card and directions :S
I’ve heard from 2 friends that this happened to, but we have no idea who else got one of these invites! Lol, I have to laugh about it or I’ll cry.

I left my DIY placecards at home for our semi-destination wedding. Luckily, I had brought my printer with me (which my dad made fun of me for when we were unpacking the car at the hotel), and had just enough paper left to redo them (again, luckily I had brought the extra paper, just in case I had to do one or two if people had changed their meal or something). We had to go to Joanns to buy a paper cutter, but we were able to reprint and cut all of the placecards the day before the wedding.
Lesson for everyone else to learn: make sure you bring your DIY projects with you to the wedding. Or at least bring the supplies to remake them!

@seven12: Spray paint them green again! That’s what they do to the grass for movie locations, if they have a lawn with brown spots they just spray paint it green!!

Hello ladies, first of all I should say thank you for all of the inspiration and advice I have sought out quietly since discovering the site a couple of months ago.
Today here is my dilemma..!
In my lat minute thought of accommodation cards for my stds, I printed them at work on my lunch, obviously not paying much attention. And OBVIOUSLY we didnt proof read them before we franticly stuffed them into the envelopes so we could mail out right away. So it appears that we have listed the same hotel address and contact information for two hotels.. One being the hotel we have reserved a group rate at..!
I have updated our wedding site, however not all will be using it. I know we still have to send out our invited closer to the date but the whole intent of the std and freaking accommodation insert was for my guests to book early..!
So there it is, my first of many colorful mistakes I am sure in our DIY wedding!
Your advice bee’s. Or atleast a similar story so I can walow with someone else..!
