Macarons :o) And they can be really yummy :o) They are a type of (french mainly) cookie (meringue based with lots of confectioners sugar, filled with a cream or butter based filing) and are popular at weddings thanks in part to Martha Stewart and the fact that they look pretty.

They’re often used as a favor, but can be expensive to buy and tricky to make right if you want to DIY.

They’re by no means a requirement for any wedding – if you like them and they’re in your budget (time or money), go for it! But if they’re not your thing, it’s totally okay to skip them too. 🙂

If you can’t find a local bakery that makes them, you should know that Trader Joe’s has them in their freezer case.  You just let them thaw for 30 minutes and then gobble them up.  They’re pretty darn good for frozen macarons too!
