I am making bath scrub for my Out of Town guests this weekend and the recipe calls for:
3c Epsom Salt
1c Almond/ olive/ or Canola Oil
Essential Oil ( for fragrance)
- Where would I find “essential oil”
- What fragrance would you want?
- How much should I use of this oil? Is it ” a little goes a long way” type of thing?
Anyone who has ever made homemade scrub’s advice is appreciated!

@Mrs_Amanda: I make it for a living. You can get the oils on ebay, actually. you don’r need very much, because it’s potent.
I personally like citrus and vanilla is a big seller.

@PrncssDva: good to know! Is there a place you suggest I buy locally? My wedding is in 8 days so I would need it pretty quickly

You can get essential oils at health food stores (like Whole Foods), hippie/earthy/natural stores, and some beauty/bath stores.
For bathing you’d want a calming scent – Lavendar is my personal favorite, but sandalwood, rose, or mint are other good choices. For morning showers citrus is a good choice.

@Mrs_Amanda: ooooh no……well, I suggest that you go get some vanilla extract and make vanilla scented ones. That’s what I use for my vanilla scent…plus, its natural. If you want other scents..Whle Foods/Wild Oats has them.
