@loving_life:  Awesome honeymoon!  Where are you going specifically?  I lived in Chile for 8 months and it (plus Argentina) is so cool.  Beware, if you haven’t been there before, their Spanish is freaking unintelligible…

@lolot:  Oh jeez… I speak and understand Spanish but I can only imagine how different the Spanish will be there vs. here in California!

We are landing in Santiago, staying there overnight, then going out to Zappallar on the coast for three nights (I want to go out to the penguin island…), then we go back to Santiago to fly to Mendoza.  We are staying in the city of Mendoza for two nights and then on a winery in Maipu for two nights, then we fly back home πŸ™‚

@loving_life:  Ooh that sounds awesome!  I lived in Valparaiso, just straight west of Santiago on the coast.  Mendoza is beautiful!!!  And the Argentinian Spanish is much more intelligible.  In Chile, if you answer “Si-po” or “No-po” to people’s questions, they will think you’re super cool.  That’s the hip kid slang for yes or no (really just adding “po” to anything is cool).

Dress Designer: Just something from DB that was half off.

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Pro, but I haven’t figured out who yet.

Honeymoon: Minneapolis! Science Museum, other museums, etc. Just to be kids again.

Flowers: Bridal: White hydrangea, white alstromeria, white ranuculus, light green fuji mums, verigated ti leaves, seeded euc, and green succulents. Maid of Honor: Green hydrangea, dark purple stock, dark purple beauty aster, green fuji mums, verigated ti leaves and seeded euc. 

First Dance Song: Beautiful-Smashing Pumpkins  (FI picked this out I think before he even proposed.)

Centerpieces: Copper wire wrapped trees with dangling amethyst and quartz crystals.

Food/Menu: Strawberry Spinach Salad (my fave!) Choice of salmon or chicken with asparagus, mashed potatoes. Fruit and nut mix and “bar mix” later for munchies.

Cake Flavour: Just marble with raspberry filling and maybe almond cream filling too. White buttercream frosting.

Favours: Copper wire wrapped quartz crystal stands for photos/business cards but will have the name cards on them at the tables.

Bachelorrete (when/what): Sometime in august. A fancy meal at a fancy restaurant. Just the two of us.

Wedding Party(#s): 1 Flower Girl, 1 RB, 1 CB (coin bearer – it’s a Filipino thing); my sisters are my BM/MOH but as FI’s Bridesmaid or Best Man can’t come, we’re not having anyone else walk the aisle with us

Dress Designer: Not sure, it was on sale at David’s Bridal. I had a “this is THE dress” moment. πŸ™‚

Honeymoon: None, we’re spending the weekend right after the wedding with my family and his in Wisconsin (doing tourist-y things). We might take a proper trip just the two of us later on.

Flowers: Paper flowers in blue and bright pink (was supposed to be red but, you know, I couldn’t get it dark enough)

First Dance Song: Cross My Heart – George Strait

Centerpieces: Various paper flower arrangements, candles, stacked books, plaster and vermiculite sculptures, etc.

Food/Menu: Fruit tray, chicken souvlaki, beef tips with mushroom sauce, pan fried tilapia, greek salad, rice, and stir fried veggies. Will probably have a couple veggie/cheese and cracker trays for apps between the ceremony and reception.

Cake Flavour: Lemon with a lemon curd filling and either white or lemon swiss buttercream frosting, plus a second flourless chocolate cake decorated to look like the cake from Portal (a video game Fiance and I both love)

Favours: Small blue notepads with a graphic from Star Wars: the Clone Wars on them, wrapped in ribbon with a little thank you scroll tied to it.

Theme: Chevron!  Way more chevron than was intended!  Attack of chevron!

Wedding Party(#s): MOH, bridesdude, best man, groomsman, two flower girls

Ceremony Time: 4 pm

Reception Time: 6 pm

Dress Designer: Atelier Diagonal

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): All pro – I can’t trust myself to make myself look presentable!

Honeymoon: Dominican Republic for 5 nights!  Can’t. Wait.

Flowers: Uhhh…  TBD?  My mom is dealing with all that because I could care less.

First Dance Song: TBD.  Difficult decision, narrowed down to “Stay Young Go Dancing” by Death Cab for Cutie, “Hold On” by Michael Buble, “Brighter than Sunshine” by Aqualung, and “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me” by She & Him. 

Centerpieces: Some sort of flower arrangement on top of wood rounds with a few candles around, and a table number (locations we’ve been together) in a classic Tolsby frame.

Food/Menu: Passed Hors D’ouvres: prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe, ripe nectarine goat cheese crostinis, caprese skewers, and chicken skewers.  Strawberry and orange wild greens salad.  Family style dinner with salmon, short ribs, grilled seasonal veggies, roasted fingerling potatoes, and bread.

Cake Flavor: Lemon cake with lemon and raspberry filling, and marble cake with caramel filling.  I plan to carry a plate with cake around with me all night.  Dancing?  Only if my cake is there too…

Favors: Cookies from the cookie table!

DJ/Band/Ipod: DJ

Bachelorette (when/what): Two weekends ago, mani/pedis, were supposed to have hair and makeup done by a chick but she cancelled with less than 24 hours notice so we did our own and hung out instead, then dinner at a tapas place that called my Maid/Matron of Honor to make sure we weren’t bringing any “penis paraphernalia” because it “ruins the dining experience for the other guests” – luckily, that was never part of the plan, but it was funny!


Wow it will be nice to see this all come together finally!
