Ooh, Im in love with the Alcanar too! I’ve been stalking it online for months now and have just recently started trying on dresses. I haven’t tried the Alcanar as nobody near me stocks it, but I do know of a few others that have a similar style.

I’m excited to know that the dress I’ve been imagining will be very close to what I choose – the 2 dresses I have tried feel great and look good on!

Here are the one’s I know of or have tried:

Maggie Soterro Nadia. I’ve tried this and loved it – it does have a straight neckline (easily altered to sweetheart), but the style itself was so flattering and comfortable: http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=3ME766

Alfred Angelo 2419 : http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/Bridal-Collection/2419

Allure 2701 – it has a lace border at the hem, but is gorgeous!: http://www.allurebridals.com/products/2701

Allure 2657 – I think this looks most similar to Alcanar: http://www.allurebridals.com/products/2657

Mori Lee – This is stunning too: http://www.morilee.com/bridals/bridal/2671

Essense of Australia: http://www.essensedesigns.com/essense-of-australia/dresses/detail/D1472

I hope this helps and I would love to hear what you think or if you discover any others that are similar 🙂

MissMonie:  How did you get on with tracking down that dress?

I’ve found a pre-loved discontinued Maggie Soterro dress that I’m very tempted to buy, it’s much the same silhouette as the alcanar. Exciting but scary all the same 🙂

Try on Allure 2701. I may be a bit biased because it’s my dress but it has lace appliques that do the same thing from the bodice to the skirt. Don’t go by the pictures on the website, it really is a dress you have to see in person!!!
