You are in DC area right? I’m interested too about doing the same thing. You’ll have to let me know who you are using.

@PitBulLover: Was one of the things that you were unhappy with the design of your wedding cake?

I love swiss dots! You can go from super simple to something more fancy with real (or sugar) flowers??

I actually just had a top layer replica of our wedding cake made for our anniversary today. Here is a pic of it…sorry bad cell phone pic…

Unfortunatly it is like a million degrees outside today and it “melted” a bit on the way bringing it home so it slid off a bit BUT yummy.

It is a 7 layer, chocolate cake with whipped icing. very light and rich..if that makes sense 🙂

This is what we used as our inspiration which was pretty simple.  We just did a top tier though and it was more or less ivory buttercream with ivory and blush sugar pearls.  I’ll also attach a picture of our actual cake.

This was our wedding cake and I loved it because it was so simple.   It was a small 2 tier cake for 65 people.  It was a delicious light vanilla sponge cake with whipped cream and fresh strawberry filling.  Decorations were just a few fresh flowers and the cake topper I painted myself.

@bestbuddies: Looks DELICIOUS! And yes, it’s a freaking sauna here.

Oh and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

@PitBulLover: That’s why I asked if you didn’t like the style of your cake.  They can replicate it if that wasn’t the problem.  Also, go back in time a little bit and remember some of the other cakes you swooned over and have them recreate it!  And maybe add the same type of flower that you had at your wedding. How romantic 🙂

I love cakes with dots! And depending on what you like, you can choose to have more or less.  Here is an example of a simple, elegant cake with dots:

If there is some other design you like, I’d say you should have it done in the same color as your icing.  I think when you start adding a bunch of colors it looks a lot less simple.

@Mrs.Firefly1: Thanks! LOL yes, it is hot as heck. The bakery is like 4 blocks from my house but I decided to drive to get it because I thought it was too hot to carry it! Imagine if I would have walked! It probably would have been dripping out of the box. LOL I am staying inside as much as possible today! YAY for working from home day today! 🙂
