Where is a good place to look for something to wear for an elopement? I would like a very simple but very elegant dress. I actually want something kind of greyish and I want a bouquet of bright red roses. I’m getting married in February outside and I think these colors would be nice. I don’t even know where to start to look for something like this.

Try Nordstrom.com. They have some reasonably priced, simple wedding dresses that might work for you!

Definitely try Nordstrom but also check JCrew…some of their dresses are more reasonably priced than others but the styles would probably work well!

I second Nordstrom. Their return policy is excellent, and you can sort dresses by color.
Ann Taylor would probably have some really lovely, simple dresses.
I LOVE the grey/red color combo. So chic and elegant. Good luck!

Check my posts about dress shopping (easiest linked from my BIO). I ended up getting mine from Belk, but I had lots of great options from Macy’s and Nordstom, as well as penny’s and JCrew.
I think you can shop my color at Nordstom online. And their return policy is pretty sweet.

When I’ve shopped at Macy’s they had a pretty good selection and their online return policy is great.

Thanks for all the great tips! I’m excited now! Yay!
Since it’s an elpopement, I’m assuming the dress doesn’t need to be a secret… or should it? I will be so excited I will want to show him right away!

Oooh, I don’t know – I think I’d still keep it a secret! I think it’s part of the fun, but I also think that every couple is different and finds their own way. I was just on J. Crew looking with a friend for her dress, and I loved some of them!

how about ann taylor? they’re having a 30% promo going on right now (mrs bee posted that yday i think)

Hi shygirl – I’m keeping my dress a secret before the elopement. My Fiance is really excited. I actually decided to go with a full length wedding gown, but one that’s light and easy to move in.

I’d still keep the dress a secret if you can. I totally understand if you can’t though. 🙂
Here are a few I found on JCrew.

Oh, J Crew has such cool dresses! Those are all beautiful. I’m sure you could find a nice shawl to go with this too since it will be February and a bit cold??? Very fun! Good luck!

I would definitely try Nordstrom.com or Macy’s. They have a great selection. And like some gals said above, J Crew is a great place to get a dress (but they’re a bit expensive).

i would also add shopbop to your list of places to look. i found this splendid dress there, although it might be a might summery for february. but if you start looking in the fall you’ll probably have better options for fabrics and more wintery styles.

JCrew has GREAT sales, so keep your eyes open for something you like.
