we’re getting married 11/6/2010 and i had my first fitting about a week ago. i went with a bridesmaid who watched as the seamstress pinned my dress in a bustle…
i’m wearing the david’s bridal trumpet satin Style WG9871 in ivory. the gown has goregous satin buttons down the back from the top to the tip of the train.
the seamstress said i should get a 5-point “top bustle” with means extra ivory buttons sewn onto the back of the dress at the seams, with loops also on the top of the gown rather than an under-bustle “because the under bustle changes the shape of the gown form the front.” my bridesmaid encouraged me to trust the seamstress and after seeing the under bustle, she said that was the way to go.
but i’ve been torn ever since, i HATE the idea of changing the drama/look of the gown form the outside when it’s not bustled, i envisioned photos of those classic buttons down the back and the hooks/loops were not in my visions.
so, has anyone worn this dress, or a similar simple trumpet style dress with buttons and had a bustle like this done, and if not, what kind of bustle do you have?
i called them after having a nightmare about it last night, and luckily they haven’t gotten to the bustle yet, so i have an appointment at 1pm tomorrow to go over my options again. any pictures would be appreciated, since i feel if i’m armed with examples i’ll get what i want!
