@ontbride:  We were looking at this at first, still kinda are. We wanted a place that could do a private dining room for us but those few of ones had $80 per person estimates even if everyone just ordered off the menu, but they were willing to offer another room for the ceremony and flowers to match our vision for the day. We are planning a wedding inside the home with homecooked roasts. The only reason why we switched was the photographer we wanted was out of budget if we had to pay for the resturant, which only gave us 90 minutes for the reception without having to pay a 6,700 minimum. Staying at home we get what we want and it will be very personal, elegant and can go all night. Weddings are expensive but some things like photography you may want to splurge on, we got ours for 3,400 but its exactly what we want and they are staying all night to celebrate with us and take photos. They really like that after the ceremony they just get to do candid photos and enjoy the evening too.

@ontbride:  We sent invitations, but not the whole traditional suite with inner envelope and RSVP cards.

@ontbride: We had a really simple and lovely wedding. We planned it in about a month (we scrapped previously plans and moved up the date because we could!). I think we had about 25 people there, and it lasted about 3 hours total. We rented out a little historic firehouse in our neighborhood that provided all tables and chairs, as well as a courtyard for the ceremony site, and served everyone pizza, salad, pies and carrot cake, all outside catered. We also had beer, wine and soda. We didn’t have a professional photographer, so almost everyone used their phones and two friends used their DSLRs. I got the flowers at a farmers market the day before and made myself a quick bouquet from a few and used the rest in bud vases along the tables. We used colorful paper plates, napkins, disposable tablecloths and plastic ware from Target. We didn’t have a wedding party which I’m thankful for. We had a friend officiate the wedding and used a playlist we set up on our computer. We had a first dance and cake cutting, which was pretty much it for traditional elements. Hell, since our wedding was so small, I didn’t send out invitations, but instead called to invite everyone personally.

Moneywise, my loving parents paid for the venue and food, while two of my good friends graciously gifted us the wine and the pies, and DH and I provided the beer. The entire wedding cost about $1000, including my dress.

I seriously loved every minute of it and wouldnt change a thing even if I could!
