It depends on what country (and state and county) you’re in, but usually to get any kind of government-issued license, you need original copies. I just needed my license and passport, no birth certificate.

It depends on the county where you live and what their requirements are.  Different counties have different levels of needing proof; do you need two forms of ID?  Specifically a birth certificate?  If you’re unsure, I’d give them a call before going in, just to be on the safe side.

They won’t keep it.  Bring the original!

I didn’t need it, just my license but if they need a birth certificate they will always want to see the original u less by copy you mean certified copy with the seal.

I got my license today and the only thing I had to show them was my passport. They did a photocopy of it and gave it back to me. I would bring the original for sure, they won’t keep it.

We need an official copy birth certificate for ours. This is highly dependent on your state and even county.

I only had to use a drivers license and social security card.  It not only varies from state to state, but from county to county.  You should be able to look up on the website of the county government you’re getting married in.

take the original. They usually don’t like copies. However depending on what state ur in then u can only use ur social and the photo id. That’s what we used here in philadelphia

I didn’t need a birth certificate.  I just showed them my driver’s license, and the lady only looked at it–she didn’t even photocopy it or anything.  I live in Newfoundland, though.  It may be different where you live.  Where are you from?
