It is kind of funny (for me) that since today everyone is talking about the crazy weather and what it takes to shut down your city, my county has just declared a state of emergency! I mean it really isn’t that different from any other winter day, just really cold and windy. I guess the highways leading out of town are bad enough to call in for extra help though. Apparently all school buses are now cancelled so the school will now become a zoo when I go pick up my son (great!). And what really sucks about it all is that if they decide to close the main highway to the city then my bf will have to spend the night there, booo! Ok winter, we understand you are pissed off, can you calm down now and go away?

Grrr, agreed! Just before the cold surge, my SO’s car broke down and can’t be worked on until the cold passes, so he can’t visit meee. 🙁 I also planned to visit my sister last weekend (in a rural city about an hour away) but her county apparently placed a level 3 warning meaning it was ILLEGAL to be out driving. I’d never heard of such a thing before. They lowered it down to level 2 by the time we were meant to leave, but I didn’t want to risk them raising it to 3 again and getting stuck out there. Crazy.

There been a state of emergency declared here too due to a propane gas shortage combined with the cold tempratures.

Yuppp, no state of emergency here, but I did get sent home a couple hours early because of the weather. We were worried the buses might stop running if it got worse.
