@lucyv2003:  I think that fake nails in general look trashy. I think that a short french manicure is cute

I normally do a french manicure with really fake short nails (literally just above my finger tips). I’m obviously biased, but I think it looks very clean and polished, not trashy.

I think painted on natural nails is acceptable.

Fake nails are perceived as trashy by some social circles, It just depends.

Totally depends on your circle.  In Texas, it’s mostly not trashy to have acrylics.  The french manicure I associate with partying sorority girls, which some might see as trashy. I don’t see it that way though, and I bite my cuticles without fake nails, so I’ll be fakin’ it up on wedding day!

I wore fake french manicured nails for my engagement photos, and I didn’t think it was trashy at all…

IMO. They look trashy if super long…. Also on toes.

I think most fake nails look trashy, but especially with french manicures. Natural French manicures are classy, but not the airbrushed ones.

@teabiscuit:  Agreed about when they’re super long! Other than that, I think they look clean and polished.

I get fakies put on (my real nails are horrible) and I don’t think they look trashy. I like a french manicure, they go with everything.

I think that when fake nails are longer than natural nails can grow, then they are trashy.  I know that nails can grow really long, but I’m talking a normal length.  I plan on having gel nails in a french manicure for my wedding, because my nail salon seems to get my gel nails really thin, so they don’t look as built up.
