Just for fun/curiosity’s sake. I’ve been stalking our registries like an insane person and this morning I saw that someone (or maybe multiple people as a group gift) purchased the $400 home espresso machine from Amazon! It was by far the most expensive thing on either of our registries (Amazon and Target) and I can’t BELIEVE someone bought it for us. I called my fiance at work and he flipped out. He sent me a follow-up text afterward saying he was “freaking out with joy”. We are SO excited and our brunch game is about to kick it up a few million notches. The generosity of our friends and family (not just gifts but their time, enthusiasm, general willingness to help) continues to amaze me. I’m interested in seeing other people’s responses! What’s the most expensive registry gift that someone actually purchased for you?

If my memory is correct it was a $900 knife set. First thing to go. Group effort.

mrsthurber: $1100 Pots and Pan set. Also a group gift from my Bridesmaids.

Individual item was $275 Kitchenaid 7 quart food processor, though I think that’s because most people gave us cash (though we did not ask for cash, and had a large, wide-price-range registry!) The largest amount (other than parents’ gifts) of cash an individual gave us was $500 from my single, male 28-year-old cousin. He’s such a sweetheart, I vowed to myself that I would save up so I could give him an even bigger gift at his wedding one day 🙂

KitchenAid stand mixer and KitchenAid food processor

Maybe the KitchenAid stand mixer, which I think was the most expensive item on our registry – it was a group gift from a family who couldn’t come to the wedding. I don’t use it too often but it’s great for when I’m making pancakes or doing the occasional baking. One year later, I still haven’t gotten around to trying out the pasta attachment….

A $2k couch. The next closest was the KitchenAid stand mixer…Talk about a big difference haha.

Kitchen Aid standing mixer. 🙂 I was thrilled to receive it as well – we registered for it thinking we’d just purchase it after the wedding, since we knew unfulfilled registry items would be discounted. Was such a nice surprise!

$700 kives…group effort for my one bridal shower even though we didn’t do a registry per se. Also got a $700 cheque from DH’s aunt and uncle (just from the 2 of them) as a wedding gift.

Dang! Some people got some crazy stuff! Ours was a $250 apartment sized freezer.

Our $300 pots and pans! I hope it wasn’t my sis, though…I didn’t want her spending that kind of money since she’s saving for a wedding too.

I think $400 for pot and pan set. But we got a few cash gifts of $500 and $1k too.

We registered for and received a Breville IQ pure kettle ($230 Canadian). It was one of our big ticket, “I doubt someone will buy this for us” gifts. I was happily surprised that someone bought it for us!

mrsthurber: Our few big ticket items were the first to go!!! My auntie bought our $600 total set of white china for 8 people, Father-In-Law purchased us a $450 kitchenaid mixer with all the bells and whistles, and our $350 pots and pans were GONE right away!!
Wasn’t expecting it but it was awsome!!
