Man, this snuck up on me! I don’t know what to get her!
For my 30th, my sister got me a Tiffany & Co pearl bracelet – it was a splurge present, usually we don’t get each other such expensive gifts. I ended up wearing the bracelet on my wedding day.
My sister is 37 weeks pregnant and expecting her baby any day now… her husband is getting her a locket as a birthday present and might also get her jewelry as a push present.
So… I’m not sure if I should get her jewelry, like she got me? Or something else, since she is already getting some jewelry? She says she has everything she needs for the baby.
I don’t want to buy her clothes because I don’t know what her size will be post-baby.

How about a post-baby full-body massage gift certificate?

A nice purse or designer wallet? Accessories are always a safe bet and its something she would use every day and think of you.

Does she have a favorite perfume, makeup brand, lotion? Maybe a gift basket with some of her favorite items?
I like the idea of a spa gift, but with a newborn it might be difficult to find the time to pamper herself outside of the home.

@Ms. Blue: I like the accessory idea, esp. because a lot of us wouldn’t splurge on something like that for ourselves. A gorgeous silk scarf, nice bag, etc is always welcome!

@Ms. Blue: That’s a good idea, but I’m not good with that kind of stuff. She lives near a Kate Spade outlet and has a Kate Spade purse, wallet, and diaper bag… so I’m not sure what else I would get?!
She doesn’t usually wear scarves, but that’s an idea…
@reginaphalange: I was thinking about something like that and may come back to that idea if I can’t figure out anything else. The main thing I’m worried about it that she won’t have time to go.
@StormyRose: I don’t know what perfume she likes, but she does like Mac makeup… a gift basket might work…
I’d like to give her something fairly lasting, since it’s a milestone birthday, but aside from jewelry, I’m not sure what…
Thanks everyone for your input!

@78h2o: Do you live near her? Offer to babysit for free as part of the gift.

Since you mentioned she has the Kate Spade items, maybe get her something else to add to her collection. My friends knew I love Coach and gave me 2 pieces to add to my collection last year for my bday.

How about a Momma survival kit? You can put a GC for a massage, but also some fun things – paper backs, a timer and earmuffs (for timeouts), some cute makeup samples, soft slippers, etc.
