Sit downs. For all of the reasons the other bees said. They’re more elegant, cleaner, and fresher. Having worked in the restaurant business, I know for a fact that sit down dinners are the way to go. I can’t even imagine walking in my ballgown going up to a buffet to get food. But, to each his own!

I think what guests remember most about a wedding is not so much whether it was buffet or seated – but whether the food was great or lousy!  I’ve had good, bad and average stuff both at buffets and seated receptions.  Personally, buffets are my preference since I prefer having more choices and even having second helpings.  Some people may have the notion that a buffet is less elegant, but I disagree that it’s always that way.  Buffet tables and menus can be just as classy. Just look at the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, who apparently had a buffet style lunch reception but then later had a seated dinner reception.  Even royals want the best of both worlds!

I have a seated meal at Denny’s all the time, but I don’t think it’s more elegant or classy just because I’m having a meal that’s being served by a waiter  🙂  🙂

we’re doing sit down. I’ve eaten at the restaurant that is catering our event and it is PHENOMINAL. I am spending $35 per person for seated because in my mind it’s more elegant. I also feel like letsgopens in that I don’t want people looking at me getting food lol. And as the bride I am a worried that with a buffet I would spend more time visiting and less time in a line trying to pick food. With a set time to sit and have plates brought to us, I am more likely to eat.

Personally, I’d go with buffet – unless you’re having a black tie affair. I say this because I tend to be a picky eater and prefer having more options to eat.  Yeah, I don’t like to wait in line either, but in most buffet receptions each table is called up individually.  Plus, your party isn’t so large that people would be waiting a long time.  I’m thinking of having a buffet reception myself, but it’s a smaller crowd too and we’d have servers at each food station to control portions.
