LOL shrinkage is a real thing, I think it would look great!

If it were my size 2.5 hand, I would opt for something much smaller, but that’s just my taste!  (I’m 4.25 and I’m getting less than 0.5 ct). It really just depends on what you like!

“Too big” is completely relative. Some people want a diamond that’s .5 carats and some people want a diamond that is 5 carats. I am a size 5 and I have always thought that a 2 carat is the biggest I would ever go, anything above that FOR ME would be “too big.” since your finger is half the size of mine, I would say a 1 carat will look awesome on your finger.

First of all, I want your ring size :-).  Second of all, I think it’ll look large, but not overwhelming.  Have you tried rings on?  Doing this really helped me to figure out what size stone looked good on my finger.  Online pictures of rings always look larger than life, when I saw them in person though I was surprised by how small different stone sizes were.

To big? Heck no! I am a 3.5 ring size and I have a 1ct and sometimes I wish I had a 1.5!

@kathleenmccown02:  You have me beat! I’m size 2.75 and my center diamond is 1.6 carats. At first, I felt self-conscious of how the diamond stuck out on my finger but now I’ve gotten used to it. Everyone is different, it’s hard to say whether 1 carat will be too big for you, personally, without knowing more about you. But if you’re asking based on physical appearance, I think 1 carat will look larger with more finger coverage. If you’re going for a more dainty look, maybe try on rings with less than 1 carat.

I think a LOT of rings look “too big” at first. Give it six months, and you’ll think it’s prefect!

I think everyone goes through a bit of a self-conscious phase when you first get your ring.  I think it will look just fine on your hand.  Having small hands should not keep you from getting what you love.  GO FOR IT!!

I’m size 2.75 with 0.75ct solitaire.  It doesn’t look big imo, but many people tell me it looks like a 1-1.5ct ring.  So if I were to make a guess, 1ct on a size 2.5 finger may look like 1.5-2ct.

All I can say is, why not? 😀

I personally have no plans in upgrading my ring to a 1ct only because I love the fact that my finger makes it look like a 1ct already. (haha!)

I have a ring size 2 (usually wear a 3 but my band is pretty thin) and I have a 0.75ct solitaire. People often mistake it for a 1ct. The perks of having small hands =)
