I purposefully got a ring that is smaller than most people recommend. Honestly, I don’t take it off that often and if I have to work it a bit when I do take it off, I don’t mind. And I really really really really didn’t want it to fall off while swimming or doing dishes and lose it! Mine sounds a lot like yours (slightly loose and easier to get off when cold and more fitted and hard to get off when swollen) and i think it’s perfect. It doesn’t roll around a lot. It doesn’t fall off. I can get it off if I need to (just needs a little wiggle). And it is never so small that it hurts to wear it. I say leave it that size.

There is no one ring size that will be perfect for you all year long and throughout your whole life. Your fingers will swell up in the summer or if you’re retaining water due to your period, being pregnant, or just eating salty food. And then there’s always the possiblity that you will gain weight at some point.

Try to find a middle ground and stick with it. I would suggest waiting until the coldest part of the year, when your fingers tend to be at their skinniest due to the weather. If your ring is really spinning and in danger of slipping off, then go ahead and have it sized down a bit. And then stick with that size, even in the summer when your fingers puff up again.

Last winter I had my e-ring sized up to 8.25. It went on and off easily at that time. But this past summer, I had a heck of a time getting it on and off. Now that it is fall, my ring has started spinning again and getting a bit loose.

I guess the main point I’m trying to make is that your ring will be looser in the winter and tighter in the summer — so, winter is the best time to evaluate whether your ring is too loose. If you find that when you’re cold, it’s so loose that it could fall off — then it is definitely too loose and needs to be sized down.
