I love green sapphires and their range of colors. We are going to buy a loose stone so I can pick the color that I want. And he will have a ring made with it.
My question is what size stones does everyone have? I don’t want something too big(and he knows I love halos)

size changes with the shape you pick. mine is an oval and it’s 9×7 but now that I see how big it is with the halo, i could have stuck with the original plan of an 8×6 stone and saved over 2k. it’s way bigger than i expected and will probably take some getting used to for me. i’d recommend 8×6 if you get a halo (or whatever is equivalent to 8×6 for other shapes)

I am looking at an oval. Lime green and 6.33×5.26.

So, I don’t have a green sapphire, but maybe my size can give you an idea of how big you’d like to go. I have a 2ct cushion cut white sapphire, surrounded by two halos (Inner halo white gold, outer halo yellow gold) and my ring has two bands. I believe the two bands together is 3mm. The total diamond weight is .75cts. I wear a size 5…I have pretty long, skinny fingers.

@Cyclebride: i have a right hand ring with a sapphire. its 1.5 karats . I was told if i wanted to replace it with a diamond its equal to 1.0 karat. hope that helps.

for sapphires and other colored stones, i like the big cushion look. I would probably do a 3 ct.
