- Wedding: January 2012
The best man at the wedding I went to last night is HUGE. The man is 6’8″ and weighs well over 300 pounds – most of it muscle. I know him through the performing company we’re both active in. He used to play a baron, and the cast nickname for him was “Baron von Scarypants”.
Anyway, when all the guys went to go get measured for their tuxes, the best man ran into trouble. Not only is he massive, but he’s a bit oddly proportioned. Apparently, his arms are actually longer than his legs.
Now that I think about it, he looks kind of like a darker, more handsome version of Wreck-It Ralph.
So the guy at the tux shop put all the men’s measurements into the computer, and it was fine. No problems.
And then it was the best man’s turn. The clerk entered his measurements, and then a big error message appeared: “Sizes Unrealistic – Please Remeasure”. The computer refused to believe that the best man was really shaped like he is.
For the first time, I felt kind of bad for the guys when it comes to wedding attire. I mean, sure, it’s a pain in the butt that the ladies have to pay so much for their dresses, but at least we can then have them altered to fit even the strangest proportions. The guys, on the other hand, just have to hope they can rent something in the proper size!
Everything turned out okay. They rigged the computer somehow into accepting the measurements (something about creating two different people in the computer and then combining the pieces), and the best man got his tux. He looked quite suave in it, too.
Anyone else had any issues like that? Darling Husband and I were a bit worried he’d have issues with his tux, since he’s got a 36″ inseam and only a 30″ waist, but he got pants with no problems. The poor best man at this wedding, though… SIZES UNREALISTIC!
