EVERYONE wears a helmet these days.  The ‘it is not cool’ is like 10 years old.  Now it is not cool to not wear one.

I have only started wearing one a couple of years ago, mainly casue it is super comfy.  I don’t think it is itchy unlike an itchy hat and you can’t loose your goggles casue they are attached and they don’t squeeze your head casue they are around your helment. And it’s warm!  So warm. I haven’t needed my helmet for perotection yet, but Ive def bashed my head a lot on the slopes before I had one.

@becca83:  you should really go to a shop and try them on IMO.  When I was helment shopping some of the “cool” ones were not comfy at all.

I think it should be required to wear a helmet when doing any kind of sports activity such as skiing or snowboarding.

I say this because last January, a friend of mine (expert skiier and snowboarder) flipped off his board and landed in a coma for 2 months. He had been skiing and snowboarding for over 15 years and never thought it would happen to him.  He did not have a helmet on, and suffered a TBI.  His life is completely changed now.  He had to re-learn how to walk, talk, eat, everything.

@becca83:  I am an MRI technologist, seeing so many traumatic brain injuries has me scared.  Please convince him to get the helmet.  My fiance and I are going to Breckenridge in 2 weeks and he didn’t want to get a helmet either, but after talking to him about it and listening to his other guy friends… they are all getting helmets.  To quote my friend “Your noggin’ is precious, dude”  It might be a little awkward for him at first but no matter how skilled he is, accidents happen every day.

Enjoy your trip!!
