I tend to keep things simple with skincare and don’t like to deal with a vast number of products. I have oily skin, more combo in the winter. Here’s my list of go-to products.
1. Micellar Water – My favorite thing for removing makeup. It’s very effective and soooo gentle! I also use it occasionally to cleanse if I’m not wearing makeup and am feeling lazy.
2. Earth Science Clarifying Facial Wash – I’ve been using this stuff for years and still love it! It’s very gentle, and since two of the primary ingredients are aloe and hyaluronic acid it’s hydrating without being greasy.
3. Garnier Gel-Cream Moisturizer – Another product I’ve been using for years. I mostly use the type for normal skin, but also keep some of the dry skin version on hand for when I get drier patches in the wintertime.
That’s pretty much it! I’ll admit I don’t use sunscreen on my face unless I’m going to be spending a lot of time outdoors. I know I should, but I’ve yet to find an SPF product that doesn’t make me either break out or itch so I kind of gave up.

Skin Salvation acne clinic has done a lot of research on products that are safe for acne prone skin. Even the popular brands that are supposed to be good for acne (Cetaphil, Cerave) were irritating to me, but my skin has been much happier since I started using more gentle cleansers and moisturizers. They even have an SPF that doesn’t seem to make my breakouts worse.
That said, chin acne is often a sign of a hormonal imbalance. I’d recommend going to your GP and getting some bloodwork done to see what exactly is going on. PCOS and estrogen dominance can affect the skin, as well as a vitamin A deficiency. Getting an accurate diagnosis will help guide treatment.
