Whether or not you should use makeup remover depends on what kind of makeup you wear. I only use it to take off my mascara, but then again I wear the heavy duty water proof stuff, and not much other makeup. You should always cleanse at night, use a gentle toner (no alcohol!) and moisturize. If you don’t moisturize, your skin will start overproducing oil for all the natural oils you remove by washing your face, and you will break out.

Try to find a noncomedogenic moisturizer that works for you. You might have to try a few before you find one that works for your skin type, and you might find you need to switch out moisturizers depending on the time of year (I have one that’s a little heavier for winter weather, and another that is humectant free for the humid Texas summer). If you can, find one with vitamin C, and a good spf; you should also start wearing sunscreen everyday (either from your moisturizer or makeup)! Your 40-yr self will thank you for it 🙂

I actually would also recommend an over the counter retinol product for your skin type, as long as you aren’t super sensitive. Even if you use it just a few times a week, it will help clear up your acne and make your face look really fresh.

Message me if you want some more specific recommendations on products and/or skincare routines… I’m a cosmetic chemist and know what the good affordable products are, and the best ways to use ’em 🙂

I’m in my 20’s (25) and I use a gentle foam cleanser morning and night, and exfoliate 1-2 times a week because I have the flakiest skin. I use Biotherm moisturizer for dry skin, garnier loreal and all those brands make my skin too greasy. For wrinkle fighting I use a good retinol cream before my regular lotion.
