Bees, I will be attending a wedding later this month and the city where it will be is cold. Would I look ridiculous wearing black slacks? I have never worn slacks before for a wedding. Has anyone here attended one and wore slacks? Is it a must for female guests to wear only dresses or skirts? Plus, I was kinda leaning towards comfort as well as I will be taking some pics and videos. Please give me input.

socalgirl1689: I suppose it depends upon the particular pair of pants, the formality of the wedding, and the top/shoes you would be pairing the pants with.

WestCoastV: If I wear the slacks (it’s black fitted with stretchy material and a bit shinny) I will have black heels and a dressy blouse. I can’t tell if the wedding is formal or semi formal because it is not indicated in the invitation on what to wear. The venue is an event hall on the pricey side so at the least, it is semi formal.

socalgirl1689: Paired with heels or dressy flats and a nice blouse/possibly a nice blazer, I don’t see an issue with wearing a pair of dressy slacks to a wedding.

Black fitted with stretchy material and shiny?
Sounds like leggings.
I would wear corporate style slacks, pant suit, etc. to a wedding but nothing that could resemble leggings.
Just my $0.02.

I have seen lots of women wearing dressy black slacks and dressy tops to winter weddings but definitely NOT leggings, tights etc unless the dressy top covers the body well below the butt.

I think some types of slacks are fine, but if you are going to feel awkward, wondering if you will be out of place, maybe you should just wear a dress.

I see nothing wrong with a woman wearing a classy pants suit to a wedding – even a formal one. The slacks you are mentioning specifically sound a little casual for my taste. I own a suit (albeit for a more corporate settng) and it cost me about $90. An acceptable dress shirt is about $15-$20. Throw in some feminine shoes and accessories, and you’re set!

socalgirl1689: I wore a back suit with heels to my cousins wedding. I think it looked great.

Go ahead and wear slacks. Not jeans, but dress slacks, and dress it up with a fancier top, and maybe a necklace.
The sequiny, obviously dressy leggings sound ok to me, paired with a long top.

Dress it up with jewelry too. In the winter I like wearing skirts or dresses over thick leggings with tall boots. Leggings are more comfortable than tights and are warm and cozy.

What about a dress with tights? That could be cute, what you’re describing sounds like leggings and personally I’ve never a woman wear slacks to a wedding.. Not that there’s anything wrong with it but I’m not used to that where I live..

Our wedding photographer wore black dress slacks, a blouse and a pretty cardigan to our wedding. I thought she looked professional, beautiful, and perfectly attired for our wedding. Definitely with a dressier blouse if you think the wedding is leaning towards semi formal. I hope no one thinks Woman= Must wear dress to be presentable.

I secong the dress with tights/ leggings idea. How about something like this?

If in fact you are talking about leggings but calling them slacks, no don’t wear them. I am not a big fan of them at all, nonetheless at a wedding. True slacks, however, are just fine as others have said, paired with the right shoes, top and accessories. True dress slacks, in my opinion, have a waistband, a zipper and are not fitted through the legs. I don’t think you must wear heels, cute dressy flats will do, as long as the top is dressy.
Good luck, bee!
