I have an update to share. Darling Husband found out today that he is for sure losing his job.
They are outsourcing his department of about 15 people. He is in a unique field so the job search is going to be hard because 1) the economy sucks and 2) these same people will all be gunning for the same few jobs that are available. He will be competing in a tough market and against some of his best friends.
The silver lining in all of this is he was told that he will have work for 6 more months and after that he will get 3 months severance pay and after his severance runs out he can collect unemployment. He is going to beef up his resume and get started on the job hunt right away. He knows not to wait 6 months and rely on severance. Darling Husband said he doesn’t know how he is going to handle having to train the outside contractors who are taking his job over the next 6 months.
We had a talk about TTC last night and he doesn’t want to give up on our dream of being parents. He firmly believes that this will all work out. While I am not sold on this idea… I’m warming up to it.
Thanks for all the posts gals, you really helped me clear my head.
@MerryC: thanks for the hugs! Ugh and so sorry to hear you both went through this. Its tough!
@ginnyc: Thanks for the reminder that I’m not a grandma! Sometimes I get so worried that I am running out of time and I need to take a step back and see that I’m not ancient and dried up yet.
@nonoame: Thanks for sharing your parents story. My parents also did not have a lot of money. Growing up, my mom was the main breadwinner as my dad is disabled. She worked in fast food! Guess what, my parents made it with 4 kids. And because of it I am a hard worker! Things like this do make you stronger.
@Quietserenity: found out today 🙁
@MrsJVP: girl its gonna be a get my multiple drink on when AF shows up. I may even drunk post on the bee. 🙂
@TheFutureMcBride: I love that you posted this response. Darling Husband and I talked about it last night and he doesn’t want to stop trying. He said that his company may take his job away but they aren’t going to take away our dreams of having a family. That our health may get in the way but he is not going to let a job get in the way. He said he would make pizza if thats what he had to do to make ends meet if it got to that point. He wants a family and he knows it will all just work out in the end. Part of me feels like that would be so irresponsible and another part of me is so comforted that he has that attitude.
@1littlep: Yep I am a big believer in everything happens for a reason. I believe that it will all happen when its supposed to happen. That God will provide us with a job and a family. (even if it’s not on the time schedule we want)
@Jenn23: thanks for your kind words Jenn.
@Treasure43: Sorry to hear you are in the same situation, it does suck!
