Interesting article. It looks like most people in the criteria I selected opted for Separate finance.

Fiance and I had the same topic of discussion last night. Currently, we both put an X amount of money into the share account for rent and bills.  Last night he asked what I want to do with our personal saving. Half of me saying once we’re married, we should combine incomes into “Ours” and have allowance on the side. The other side of me (being very territorial), I’m uncomfortable of handing my hard earn money over into a common pot.

Eventually I told him, I “think”  combine most of our income in a pot, and have an X amount of saving for myself “just in case”.  I’m the person that always prepapre for the worse so, so if it does come, I’m not caught off guard.

I asked him if he was offended that I didn’t trust him, but he’s ok with it as long as I’m comfortable.

@meginstl: That’s a neat chart.  May I ask where you got it?
