I don’t know about hiring someone to do it, but my husband did it himself for our wedding. He used a program called Animoto where you put pictures in a folder, select the music and theme and it’ll create a slideshow. You can only select one “song” but you can combine songs in another software to do it. The basic software is free (which will help you put it together). Then when he was ready to download it to the computer, you pay about $5-10/month (which you only end up paying 1 month) to download a HD version.

I did these for funerals for a long time.  I wound up downloading a software program that I love, but it’s pricey.  It’s around $70 for the download but it’s so easy to use!  It’s called ProShow Gold and it’s worth it!  I’d recommend it.  DON’T use photostage, a free slideshow creation program. It’s a PAIN to use.

The pricing depends on the person doing it.  When I did it, I charged $0.75 a photo.  That included unlimited music (you chose what you wanted and I would download it), a DVD or USB drive with the show, and I would sync the timing of all the photos to the music.  Any extra copies (for family, etc) was $5/DVD.  I was the cheapest business around at the time.  Now, I’m sure there are people who do it for less.
