Obviously it depends on how many seconds you leave each picture up for…I will say this:  15 minutes is a LONG time for a slideshow.  You may want to consider cutting that down by at least half.  Most people can’t pay attention to something like that for that long.

I used to make these for a living…we would generally to about 3-4 seconds per photo, and most wedding slideshows had about 75 photos (25 of the groom growing up, 25 of the bride growing up, and 25 of them together).  That would make it about 7 minutes long.

If you give each slide 5 seconds, that’s 180 photos over 15 minutes.

I agree that 15 minutes is TOO long! I think 10 would be an absolute max time. But just go into powerpoint or whatever program you are using and see how long you want each pic up for and then divide it to figure out number of photos.

Don’t show photos for more then 3-4 sec a piece and make the SS under 10 min long. It doesn’t seem like a lot of time per photo but our brains are wired that way. Think about how much info is crammed into a 15 -30 second commercial.

What are you doing with the slideshow?  Are you leaving it up and running, or playing it once during part of your reception?  I have a couple of friends that left it up and running during their entire wedding, so I don’t think 15 min is too long.  People that didn’t want to watch it for a long time glanced over occasionally, and those that were mesmerized by the photos sat and watched it all the way through.
