so i have a problem….My chest and back are prone to break outs. Especially in the summer when its hot and I’m all sweaty and stuff. I see a dermotologist who says to just keep using soap and it will go away. Doesn’t help too much honestly.
My questions is does anyone know of any kind of soap or something that will help clear up or prevent breakouts on chest/back area? Exfoliants are too harsh on my skin.

The only thing which worked for me was putting my hair up while I conditioned it, washing my back at the end of my showers, and washing my sheets a lot. I also took a shower or used acne wipes any time I got even remotely sweaty. I haven’t had acne on my back or chest for years since I started this routine.
I hope that works for you!

I use to have this problem but when I started taking birth control that supposedly helps acne, it went away. That’s the only advice I have as I was unable to control it before either.

OK I know this is going to sound horrible, but I have done it and I once read it in a beauty mag which confirms it enough for me…. The skin on your body is different than the skin on your face. Isopropyl alcohol. I used to use it on my shoulders, with a cotton round and I would get so much junk off even after i just showered. I would do it a few times a week to get it under control, then I could do it like once a week. There used to be a salicylic acid body wash on the market by neutrogena. Now I have it a little more under control, and I just use a scrub brush on my back in order to clear it up, but I really rinse after I use my hair conditioner too.

So keep my hair up to condition it (my hair is shoulder length) extensive washing and then alcohol after the shower (while being conscience of sweating and using acne/wash cloths) should help?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Seriously everytime my mom sees me in a tank or at my dress fittings shes always mentioning my spots on my shoulders and back so I’m so seld-conscience of it

Keep wipes with you, maybe try spray on deodorant? Weird I know, but I also am prone to breakouts in my chest, and it works a bit for me. I also recommend Burts Bees gel cleanser. Its the only thing i can use and it helps. Neutrogena also has a body wash for acne prone skin, but it dried out my skin horribly. Best of luck, its a pain!

See a different dermatologist.

The only thing that cleared up my acne, both face and body, was switching to a no gluten, no dairy diet. The other thing that helped was getting rid of body washes and other things with sulfates in them and going to pure glycerine soap for my body and using coconut oil to moisturize my skin. That made a big difference, too. It’s a small change, smaller than the diet shift, but it might help.

@shootznladrz89: Clean & Clear continuous control: its 10% benzoyl peroxide. Fair warning, it will stain your towels.

@nl: This! Neutrogena’s body wash is awesome. I’ve only ever had a couple spots on my chest (under where my sports bra always is) and that clears it right up.

@shootznladrz89: Mario badescu has an awesome acne body wash and toner. Their skin care products have seriously changed my life! I went from having BAD acne all over to having good skin!

I am prone to break outs also! For my face I use proactive wash and toner. Then I use a night syrum. It took me a long time to figure out that I was over drying my skin. Anyways, for my back and chest I use soap but I wash them last and use a scrub brush. so it’s like I’m exfoliating while cleaning’
