(Closed) Slimquick…do those things work?

The diet that has worked best for me is weight watchers. I’ve tried slim quick and got very bored of it very quickly… and didn’t lose a dramatic amount of weight.

These "diets" scare me. I find the only thing that really works is to change your lifestyle.

I eat a lot of lean protein (fish, chicken, milk) and coloured fruits/veggies (no potatoes) along with only whole grain bread/rice/pasta. I have a little chocolate every day and will have desserts/sweets but only in limited amounts. I do some form of exercise everyday and make sure there is variety – litfing weight, yoga, running, ballet classes. A lifetime of this has kept me at my goal BMI.

The best thing to do if you have a short period of time to lose a little extra weight before the wedding is to up the cardio and decrease the amount of sugar you eat. I wouldn’t recommend going on a no sugar diet, but if you can eliminate all white bread/pasta/rice and anything with sugar added to it than you will definitly see a difference.

In the short term, maybe they work. In the long term, the answer is always no – the only thing that will help you is diet and exercise. You also don’t know what the ingredients in weight loss drugs will do to your body. Often, they are some type of stimulant and if you are already stressed they can make you feel pretty wretched after a while or just be bad for you overall. I wouldn’t do it, but that’s just me.

My fiance, who is a professional strength coach, always says the best way to look trimmer quickly is to do some weight lifting. I know, I know, all girls are scared to look "bulky" but lifting weights is the very best thing you can do along with cardio. Just be sure to do your weight lifting FIRST. And you won’t bulk up if you do 3 sets of 12 reps at the maximum weight you can do without hurting yourself.

Also, having muscle will help you lose weight faster. Muscle burns calories faster than anything else.

Don’t do those diet pills. They will just make you feel jittery!
