We have 4 friends getting married this summer. I am in one wedding, planning 2 of them, and Darling Husband is best man for one of them as well. Our oldest son however, has been asked to be in all 4!! Of course all outfits are different. One of the suits we bought wasn’t bad, it was $40. However, the other 3 want us to rent tux/suits.
Did you know that a tux for a 4 year old is the same price as a rental for an adult??? That’s right $140+ for a tiny little tux. On top of that, one of the weddings is outside, in August, in the middle of the day and they chose a black 3-button with a vest (3 button means you won’t see the vest!). He is not going to keep on that tux. He is going to sweat and cry! (my 350lb husband probably will too)
I now regret raising him to be so well behaved that everyone wants him on their day lol.
This was a ring bearer rant, but also maybe a suggestion to brides, to think about alternatives in clothing for ring bearers.

I’d just talk to the other 3 and ask if he can just wear the suit. I mean, does it *REALLY* matter what the ring bearer wears as long as he’s in some sort of cute little dark suit. Anything a 4 year old wears is going to be cute and oooh’ed and ahhh’ed at.

I’m sure your son must be dashing to have so many engagements, but I really don’t care for children in black or in formal wear. It’s too serious for a four year old. I always think of the image of Jack Jr. At JFK’s funeral wearing a blue short’s outfit as the standard of dressed up little boys. The idea of a tuxedo is to streamline the silohette and that makes no sense for boys. I think that a white sailor suit would be darling and possibly something you could convince the couplesto allow.

We decided that it was SO not worth the hassle to have our Ring Bearer rent a suit/tux!! We found an ADORABLE shirt/pant/vest/tie combo in a lighter shade of our wedding purple and bought that for him – it’s so cute! The best part was that we found an easter dress that matches it perfectly for our flower girl!!!
I too, though, think it’s ridiculous that the rentals cost the same.

I think you should talk to the other three and see if he can wear the suit that you bought. Our ring bearer isn’t going to match the groomsment (even our flower girl doesn’t really match). I agree with other poster that no matter what he wears he is going to look cute, he’s 4!

Yep. When we found that out we decided to just buy it from JC Penny or Burlington

Do you think its possible to buy one tux for all of them and possibly try to sell it after?
I know that my brother was in a wedding years ago and mum brought him a jacket, vest, shirt and pants for $150.

EEEEK! Yes, I would definitely talk to the bride and see other options like wearing the suit, or purchasing a tux (even online somewhere). That is ridiculous!
