I’m on a serious budget of $5k, as my SO and I will be paying for everything ourselves and we just bought a house in May. When I was chatting with my friend the other day, she asked me what my “splurge item” will be. I feel like I can honestly say nothing. I don’t know how I can splurge on anything without going way over budget. I guess my biggest splurge would be food (at about $65 pp), but we will likely only have about 20 guests after RSVPs, so it shouldn’t be a problem.
Do/did you have a splurge item? If so, what was it and were you comfortable with it?

Our venue and food are a serious splurge adding up to about $4,000 of our $10,000ish wedding. My dress is was a splurge as well, I never planned to spend $1045 on a dress! Originally I thought $300-$500 was more than enough but I feel in love with my dress and I had to have it!

my budget is 15,000
our biggest splurge is the photographer. If you are going to splurge at all, have it be on photos! This is going to capture your memories and your wedding album becomes your first heirloom 🙂

Our budget is about $10k. I think that my wedding dress will end up being my splurge. I originally budgeted $500 for my dress. I was going to get a China replica made. But now I think that I might allow myself $1,000 dress budget. I’ve started a special dress savings. I’ll just try to sell the dress after.

Photographer, without a doubt, is our splurge. Everything else we took the most inexpensive (but nice) route, but we were willing to spend 4K on the photographer that we truly loved. Our budget was 10K and we decided to increase it just to accomodate him.

My original budget was 4500 and it has now gone to 6000. My splurges include photography, venue rental, and chiavari chairs. I will be having about 65 guests

$10k wedding. The dress was my splurge at $1600 after alterations. I thought I would spend about $800.

My “day of” will be my biggest splurge. Hair, make up, jewelry, hair piece/veil, nails – I normally have natural nails so I will start Shellac when I like the length of them. Pretty much anything that makes me feel pretty.
I originally thought my daughter’s dresses would be my splurge but knowing me I would skimp on myself. They will have beautiful dresses regardless. They just don’t need $250 dresses each. They will be 6 & 7 at the time of the wedding.

I “splurged” on our drink bill. We hosted wine and beer and the staff were told to come find us at a certain amount. I just kept saying “Keep going”! Granted, here in the Czech Republic it’s a LOT cheaper than in the U.S., but I definitely felt like I was splurging. It was worth it! Such a great night!
ETA: Total wedding cost about 8K$. That did not includea honeymoon.
