It really depends on what you want to flaunt, if you’re proud of your butt, you’d probably want a mermaid style or fit and flare. If you want to cover it up, A-lines are pretty popular.

I have your same measurements.  I think you really can go with any type of shape.  For me personally I thought I wanted a ballgown and thought they looked good on me.  Then I tried fit and flares and felt that they complimented my figure better and helped me to look more balanced and curvy.

There is a great thread on here about pear shapes that show women in all types of dresses that you might find helpful!

I am 5’4″, and like a floppy C cup in the boobs and have bigger hips. I went the mermaid route 🙂

I have similar measurement with like a size 2 up top and an 8 on the hip. The only way to know is to try on every type of dresses. I went with the fit and flare style.  But this is also because I am short 5’1” only so the ball gown I felt was too much fabric on me.

@Westitude:  your fit&flare dress looks absolutely AMAZING. I’m a pear shape too (a pretty skinny one at that – 0-2 on top and 2-4 bottom) and keep reading that mermaid/fit&flare doesn’t work for pears etc. etc. etc., but your dress goes to show that there really are no fixed rules!

I  am the  same way.  Size 2-4  bridal up top and 8 in the hips. I wanted to show off my figure so I got a fit andflare. I  have big  arms and didn’t want to cover up my body with a ballgown  and look  like a fatty bc  all anyone sees are my chub  arms ! lol

I’m 5′ 2″ and I’m a 32, 26, 37.5 …. so I know what you’re going through. I think fit and flare looks great but I think the trumpet on some shorter girls can just make our figures look stalky. I tried on the Watters Pasadena (fitted slightly in the hips and loved the shape of it) maybe something like that?

Here is what I went with!

I too suffer from this, but for me when I was trying on dresses, I felt the ball gowns made me look even wider in the hips. Here is what I got:

I have similar proportions (but bigger). Here’s my dress (trumpet-style):
