We did things the other way around.. we found the venue first, because we needed disabled access. We then approached the church about a mile away from the venue and explained the situation. They were fantastic, plus their church is 100% disabled accessible as well. So you could always try to do that?

@BeeRod527:  We’re also having a Catholic wedding! I’m not Catholic, but FI is. You can get a dispensation. It can be done as long as your priest and the local priest support your decision and you have good reasons. You will require a dispensation form, but it’s actually quite straightforward after that.

@BeeRod527:  So the problem is that your venue is not near to any Catholic churches at all? Ah. That is a problem. Are you both Catholic? Because if one of you is not Catholic then you can have an interfaith wedding with a Catholic co-officiant nearer to your venue. Even if the church doesn’t recognise an interfaith service, you can just get a convalidation the following day. That way you go straight from your co-officiated wedding to your reception.

The alternative would be to turn the journey between venues into an event… book out a double decker bus, for example, and serve champagne during the journey, or hire someone to play music on the bus, if the budget allows?
