My wedding planning has been all over the place. I’m located in Indiana and we were going to do it locally, then we were going to go to Florida, now we’re thinking about Chicago.
However, Chicago is very overwhelming (I’m sure you know!). I’ve looked at some of the other venue posts, but nothing seems to match what I’m looking for, so here I am!
Our wedding will involve no more than 25 people. All we want is a simple ceremony, then dinner with everyone after. No need for dancing or anything like that. It’s FI’s 2nd wedding and I don’t really get into the whole traditional wedding/reception thing, so we’re trying to keep it simple but classy.
In my ideal world, we could use a conference room or large suite at a downtown hotel with some cool views and get married as the sun goes down, overlooking the city. Then maybe dinner at said hotel’s restaurant or somewhere close by. There will be 6 kids 10 and under, so it has to be child friendly to an extent.
Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea where to start looking. The hotel selection alone downtown is huge. If any of the local Bees can push me in the right direction, I would be incredibly appreciative!!

You should look for restaurants that have party rooms. That will be your best bet!

Spiaggia has gorgeous views and amazing food, but it’s pricey! http://www.spiaggiarestaurant.com/privateevents

@solidarity: 312 looks great, thank you for the recommendation!
@remijp: I will take a look at the Spiaggia for sure!
@fishbone: I will look into The Roof as well!
Thank you so much for the suggestions so far, this is incredibly helpful to me!

@starry29: If you go on Open Table (the dining reservation site) there is a section for private dining with a listing of restaurants that offer it, how big their rooms are, etc. I was looking for much bigger spaces than you need, but it was a pretty thorough listing (although of course not everything).

We are having a small wedding in downtown so I have a ton of suggestions. Restaurants are your best bet because they can accomodate small groups like yours AND you get excellent food! Win-win!! We are having ours at ZED451, but almost went with Quartino. I highly recommend both. And we are having our ceremony on Lightology’s rooftop. Check their website. It is amazing & is perfect for small groups. I can give you names of contacts and other info if you like. Just PM me.

We have the same exact problem! I’m originally from FL, moved to IN, but can’t find anything so looking in Chicago. Also having a very small guest list/reception. What did you end up going with?
