I am almost 31 and by the time my fiancé and I get married I will be almost 32. We are looking to keep a budget of 10k with immediate family consisting of about 16 guests including us. I don’t want to do a restaurant and wanted something a little more than that..we found an historic estate where we would have our own separate area for 5 hours in their old world library room along with an outside area. They require a 5k min with service charges, NY sales tax etc..our site fee goes towards that 5k min along with a 4 course dinner and a bar package..they offer enhancements such as if we want craft beer/better wine then the per person charge goes up, a Viennese dessert, interactive station during cocktails and apps as well as a signature drink. My fiancé and I were thinking if we are going to do this, we might as well make sure our immediate family really enjoys the food and doesn’t leave hungry at all. With enhancements like that chosen along with sales tax, service charge, gratuity – the mock bill comes to about 6300. They will also provide us with a complimentary room for me and my fiancé. I figured the space itself has a lot of ambiance and I don’t need a lot of flowers. I don’t have a bridal party or a dj/band. The photographer is the second item that would be the most costly. I know there will be extras such as my cake, dress which I wouldn’t go crazy on, make up, transportation. I figured I would be paying off those items well in advance.
Does this sound like a small elegant and lovely wedding? A part of me feels guilty for even spending 6k on a wedding…I know I didn’t want a restaurant and the b&b’s i saw either want you to rent out the whole thing or the site fee will be a lot more money.
