- Wedding: December 2012
I have fallen in love with our venue. It is glamorous and posh and affordable! The only problem is it is very small, we can only invite 30 people.
Our guest list break down is as follows:
Fiance: 7 people
Me: 13 people
Joint friends: 10 people
My issue involves my extended family. My fiance is not inviting any aunts, uncles or cousins because he is not close to them and only sees them once in a blue moon (his grandparents have passed on). He is inviting his parents, sister and some close co-workers.
I am inviting my aunts and uncles but no cousins. I feel it is not fair that I am inviting almost twice as many people as my fiance. Also, because I am inviting the aunts and uncles I don’t have enough room to invite a couple of co-workers who I am pretty close to.
I have an aunt & uncle on my mom’s side that I am pretty close to. I am not that close to the aunts and uncles on my dad’s side but I can’t invite one aunt and uncle without inviting them all.
I worry about offending everyone and am not sure if I am brave enough to not invite the extended family. I think my parents (who are halpeing to pay for the wedding) would be upset.
To make matters worse my mom has been telling everyone about the wedding so now I’m sure everyone is expecting an invitation. I know it is supposed to be our wedding but when it comes to family, it’s hard to be cut throat.
Can anyone give me advice or suggestions? Your help will be so appreciated!
