I stopped at the jeweler today to talk some more about our custom bands – I need to get them ordered ASAP but I’m soooo indecisive!
I have a diamond band that goes with my e-ring, but I want a plain band to wear when camping, kayaking, working with my clients (I work with a lot of people in poverty).
I told him I initially wanted something very thin, but ordered a 1.5mm from Zales and it was too small. When I said I wanted to try on a 4mm or 5mm to determine how wide I want my band to be, he said a 5mm are usually for men, and would be way to big for my hands (I’m petite – 5’2″, 120 lbs). He gave me a 3mm and it was small…He gave me a 4 and 5, and he agreed the 5mm looked the best. He explained that I have small hands/short fingers, but a long ring finger. Apparently the space between my knuckles is long, so that’s why thin bands look weird on me.
I just thought I’d share, in case it helps someone else while their shopping for rings! I don’t have a pic of my plain band, because it’s not made yet, but here’s a photo of my ering and diamond band on my hand so you can see what I mean They’re each about 2 – 2.5 mm 🙂
