So I have a couple of ideas rolling around in my head on how I want my wedding day to go. We are going to have a very small group of 30 which is only family. We’re looking at possibly having it at a small winery here in our hometown. I thought it would be perfect to have the ceremony AND the reception dinner outside. It’s a very cute place. HOWEVER, Fiance isn’t happy with the menu, so he wants to just take everyone out to eat somewhere else after the ceremony…
but I’m thinking that with things being so small (we won’t have a big wedding party, just my best friend and his best friend standing up for us) and the ceremony won’t be super long, that it will seem very odd to be at the venue for all of 45 minutes, and then everyone shuffle out to go somewhere else.
Anyone have any suggestions of thoughts on how this could work? I’m getting very frustrated!

We’re expecting about 50 people, so I guess it’s a bigger wedding, but we are having our reception at a different location. Honestly our ceremony is probably going to be a 1/2 hour and then we’re moving on to the reception at a golf club. No one seems to mind, I think a lot of people understand that you can’t always have the ceremony and reception in the same space.
Thank being said, a winery sounds like a lovely venue to have the reception at. You might want to check with the kitchen and see if they might be willing to make something that your Fiance likes. I have spoken to a few venues who told me that they could make something if we didn’t see options we liked. It’s worth a shot.

I don’t think it matters that much either way. For a smaller event, I wouldn’t mind having to get back in the car and go somewhere else, as long as it wasn’t TOO far.

No, it would be somewhere relatively close if we did it that way. The winery really is cute, but I’ve already asked them about changing the menu. They were pretty strict about it unfortunately. 🙁 Maybe I’m making moving locations out to be a bigger deal than it is??
